We can’t possibly name them all but for starters, J & G Pizza with fresh takes on traditional pizza, is often referred to as the “best in the Toledo area” and located at 5692 Main St Sylvania. They also have fantastic Gyros and other items.
Another highly touted pizzeria is Charlie’s Homemade Pizza. Sylvania home owners and locals will openly contest which establishment is better but both are superb. Charlie’s also is known for their other menu items as well; the Chianti sauce with their pasta is a must try and locals love the Greek, Antipasto, Grilled Chicken and House salads, along with "Cheesy Bites" and fantastic garlic bread. You can enjoy entrees like a Spaghetti Dinner, Baked Manicotti or Ravioli, Fettuccini Alfredo, Primo Penne with Tuscan Garden Vegetables, Chicken Pesto with Sun-dried Tomatoes and so much more. Chef's specials will include items like Tortellini De Pollo or Pumpkin Bisque with Smoked Gouda. Charlie’s is found at 6600 Sylvania Ave (by the way, you should really try their home-made ice cream for dessert!)
Speaking of desserts and ice cream, make a point to sample some sweets at Brieschke’s Bakery at 5639 Main Sreet. You’ll be amazed at their pastries and wedding cakes.
Too, for a cold or sweet treat, have an ice cream, malt or fantastic Sundae at Handel’s Ice Cream found at 5908 West Sylvania. Fast and friendly, their large assortment of unique and traditional flavors along with their original creations will keep you coming back. Home owners and locals freely brag that it’s the best ice cream to be found in town but some will argue Charlie’s is equal in quality and taste.
Nothing fishy about it, “Seafood”, (yes, that’s the name) has been a neighborhood gem and favorite for more than 50 years in Sylvania. A delightful, casual but romantic atmosphere, they serve up some of the best home-made clam chowder around along with shell fish, USDA choice aged steaks, fettuccini and Alfredo dishes, delectable appetizers and a whole lot more. This local favorite is found at 5504 Alexis Road.
For some rich Asian flavors, a local favorite is Gourmet Garden, and well known in the area for fast and friendly service, amazing prices and very flavorful, freshly prepared Chinese Cuisine.
