The Learning Curve for Ohio Realtors is Huge

The Only Constant in Practicing Real Estate is Change

The perfect real estate agent would know: what is for sale, what is coming up for sale, what sold, for how much, what mortgage rates are, how to apply for a mortgage, all aspects of special financing, what is happening in the local economy, national economy, state economy, and how all of it affects buyers abilities to buy and sellers to sell, and technology, and how to use it, and what the proposed changes to septic system rules are and how they will affect either buyers or sellers, and what the QRM looks like this year, and how a house is constructed, and who is good at carpet cleaning, and more.

No real estate agent is perfect.  Every single item on the above list is potentially changing every day.  Even the best carpet cleaner choice can have a different answer tomorrow than it did today.  Real estate agents in Ohio get answers to the ever changing questions just like other professionals do in their specialties, we figure out who to ask.

Who to Know is He Who Knows

What?
The person that you, as a real estate agent, need to know is the person who knows the most about what is going on.  Some agents are constantly telling their clients that they don't know the answers.  Others make stuff up.  There are very few agents who know enough about everything to truly represent their clients best interests in a top-notch professional manner.  These agents spend as much time studying as they do with everything else involved in operating a business.  They talk with other agents that they know who study and share openly, without inferior or superior feelings, in order to better the knowledge of the group.  This type of agent is rare in most brokerages, but surprisingly common in Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty offices.

One of the foundations of this brokerage is the search for knowledge.  They, meaning we, institute the ideal through the following:
Knowledge - Constantly striving to know more than the day before and sharing it forward.

Greg Hancock wrote: Tim, couldn't agree with you more! We as Realtors are the professionals, and professionals are the ones consumers look to for help and guidance. We should be on top of changes in law, local market trends, financing issues and changes in the mortgage industry including credit requirements and be intimately familiar with transactions on different types of properties like HUD, Fannie Mae or REO homes. I really appreciate you spelling it out like this. At other companies I see a lot of agents, but not a lot of Pro-Realtors. Good one!
