Real Estate and home décor apps can be more than a little overwhelming when it comes to choosing which apps are simply full of fluff and which offer true substance at no cost. It’s time to chisel your list down to the best of the best!

We've all heard the raving about Realtor.com, advertised as the #1 real estate app/site available and with good reason. Likely the most up to date, accurate info available to those not directly connected to the real estate industry. Complete with pictures, school district data, and tax info directly fed from the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS) used by Realtors all over the US. The “search near me” feature as well as the ability to search within a specific school district, save searches, save homes, receive updates when a price change or status change has taken place, make the benefits of using the Realtor.com app second to none and THE must have app on the list.

The Trulia Mortgage app will have you on your way to understanding your home affordability within moments. The app also feeds up to date mortgage loan rates and personalized loan quotes, allowing the consumer to “play” different loan scenarios to see what may be the best bet for their individual situation. Tip: It’s helpful to know your credit score prior to utilizing the app for the most accurate results. Please read Trulia’s disclaimer carefully, the rates and payment quotes shown through the app are in no way an offer to service the actual loan.

I saved the best (or at least the most fun) for last….Houzz. Homeowners beware, your “honey-do” list is about to become much larger! Houzz is the ultimate home playground. Similar to Pinterest in many respects, Houzz shows more professional-grade examples of everything from curb appeal to vacation homes, to blow your mind kitchens & baths. With the Ideabook feature, you can tour homes, read the latest and greatest in home décor trends as well as quick ways to revive any room. The app also features, “find a pro,” where to shop for many of the products featured in the pictures shown and you can save them all to come back as your wallet allows! Happy Houzzing!!

Whether you are a seasoned homeowner residing in your forever home, a current renter, or a first-time buyer just wading into the waters of homeownership, who doesn’t love the idea of Home? Enjoy!

Greg Hancock wrote: Heya Jessica, not sure if you knew this, but I'm working with others on developing our own real estate app, taking the best features of Realtor.com, Houzz, and others and combining them into one tool / app for home buyers. I'll keep you posted on the expected publish date, but this app is something our Berkshire Hathaway agents can provide to clients, but too, with marketing, should also direct buyers to local agents that have questions. Coming soon! ( You know me, something always in the cooker!)

Jessica Botkin wrote: Cleo, Houzz is amazing! It gives a high end spin on the "Pinterest" design style and pairs beautifully with iphone and Android. I've also put Houzz into play as an example for sellers to get their home into showing condition. Thanks for reading the blog!!
