Insurance Adjuster gets Squirrelly
According to one Insurance adjuster a squirrel is considered a rodent and they denied my clients claim from damage to the living room picture window and wooden window sill done by a intruding squirrel while on vacation 3 years ago. This story was discussed on The Rock & Roll Real Estate Hour last Saturday morning at 9am on 1480 WDJO AM radio. My client...we will call them Dana & Dean for now was told if it were a raccoon they would cover the almost $3,000.00 of damages the squirrel caused.
Now its an issue because Dana & Dean want me to put their home on the market to sell. Best price will not happen while this damage is out standing in the living room. The Musical Insurance Guy Gary Rasmussen says there is no statue of Limitations to these contraversial claims and my clients should call the Ohio Department of Insurance (https://www.insurance.ohio.gov/Pages/default.aspx) and file a complaint to get these damages covered regardless of squirrel vs Raccoon.
