Greene County - What's in Your Crayon Box?
I like to brag about Greene County, Ohio. I work with some clients relocating from out of state or relocating to the Greater Dayton Area from some other great place in Ohio and on occasion I'm asked for where I would look for a home.
It's not about searching for the best deal, but more about finding a good deal where you want to live and for some, that means discovering places that have the right appeal and lifestyle for you, or you and your family. I think as Realtors we're very focused on housing markets, sales, buying and listing activity, but I think part of that focus should be introducing newbies to places and communities. If you've never been, or, if you're just not too familiar, I'd like to introduce you to Greene County Ohio.
Greene County Ohio Real Estate - What's Not in the Listing Remarks
I came across a Greene County Ohio site, and love it's concept of coloring outside the lines, as they put it. Greene County does have a spirit of freedom and ingenuity to go with it's penchant for tradition and places with strong sense of community. You could say some places are like having a small box of crayons, limited color choices and heavy influence to color inside the lines but Greene County is more like having a full 100 color set and being dared to color outside the lines, creating your own colorful lifestyle with the elements you want and not someone else's pre-conceived idea of what lifestyle and living should be for everyone.
Did you know that Greene County is the central hub of Midwest rail trails? If you're big on biking, you can start from Xenia Station and just keep on going to Dayton, Cincinnati, Piqua, Urbana or London Ohio. Of course, if you're not feeling that ambitious, one can leisurely peddle through wetland or heavily forested areas and parks brimming with awesome scenery just begging to be photographed and gorgeous backdrops for selfie keepsakes. You can walk, run, bicycle and roller blade through Greene County's countryside and small towns and barely be reminded of motorized traffic.
You may want to take your bike, or just drive to one of the many public festivals going on in the area all throughout the year and find culture, art, music, crafts and favorite eats to unusual temptations for your palette. Of course, you might want to do some shopping in quaint stores found in communities like Bellbrook, Yellow Springs, Xenia, Cedarville, Jamestown or Spring Valley. Of course, one the county's premiere shopping stops is "The Greene" in Beavercreek, with loads of shops, plenty to eat, and sometimes free live music, shopping becomes a fun afternoon.
I have to mention too, Greene County has some awesome farmers' markets, and you're in for a treat at places like The Pumpkin Barn, or Schwartzkopf Farms Farms in Xenia. Did you know "Xenia" means "hospitality"?
If you're up for a peaceful canoeing adventure, the Little Miami River flows southwest for over one hundred miles until it reaches the Ohio River, and tons of opportunities to stop and see some amazing displays of nature and vistas whose beauty make it hard to move on. In fact, Greene County residents have access to over eighty miles of perfect canoeing with flat water, challenging turns, some fast water and you'll love the turtles sunning on logs and rocks, Blue Herons and other wildlife.
Greene County Ohio Real Estate - Golden Location
One of the greatest features of homes for sale in Greene County Ohio, is it's location. Obviously you have a lot of great outdoor venues, and good access to places like Caesar Creek State Park and Nature Preserve for boating, hiking, swimming, camping and family outings, but for the adults or big kids in your family, you have nightlife options presenting enough choices to keep anyone happy.
Not just in Greene County, but next door in Montgomery County, Dayton has a ton of hopping places for some drinks and dancing, live music, sports bars, and check out the House of Blues while you're there. College sports, like Dayton Flyers, concerts and many chances to take in some noise await visitors. Too, you could also head over to fabulous Columbus, and may will head on down to the Cincinnati - Newport Kentucky area to dine on the river, or partake in many of the energetic and color festivals or famous events.
I do a lot of business in Huber Heights, Kettering and Centerville over next door in Montgomery County (partially in Greene County) and the Dayton area, but love getting on over to Greene County. I often plan some time ahead of or after showings so I can relax at some of my favorite places.
